The Byzantine Beliefs hand-made necklace features a genuine artefact from Old Constantinople, meticulously hot-enamelled and polished to enhance its visual appeal. Crafted with Aventurine and Lapis Lazuli, the necklace is designed to evoke a sense of tranquility and equilibrium.
The artefact itself is a coin minted in Constantinople between 1028 and 1034 AD during the reign of Romanus III. The front of the coin showcases the inscription “IC-XC” flanking the bust of Christ, who is depicted facing the viewer with a nimbus cross behind his head. The nimbus is divided into four sections, each corresponding to a limb of the cross, while Christ is portrayed holding a book of gospels. On the reverse side, there is a sign “IS-XS BAS-ILE BAS-ILE” meaning “Jesus Christ King of Kings“. (SB 1823).
