This painting was made in memory of Eugenia, my husband’s grandmother, who passed away in the summer of 2021.
She was a wonderful woman, very brave and strong. Despite all the difficulties in her life (she lived through WWII, got captivated by USSR from Poland to Siberia, then refuged to Mexico by ship by herself being just a teenager) she always had a positive attitude.
My kids (Eugenia’s great-grandchildren) picked this beautiful bouquet on the day she left this life and I painted them with a closed book that symbolizes the last chapter read of Eugenia’s life.
