King of Plastic Pearls painting represents the modern trading situation as well as people’s consumption values. People are not interested in the quality, rather than quantity of what they buy and most people don’t think about the consequences of their consumerism. Plastic replaced most materials now and we tend to use it even where it’s not really necessary. King of Plastic Pearls is about plastic. Acrylic paint is a kind of plastic. Also, I outlined the King with clear plastic stickers “Made in China” and added plastic pearls to his beard and moustache.
