Wildfire in Prairies

When it’s a wildfire, to save and protect your village you have to burn out gras around, so fire doesn’t reach you and stop. This family is observing that process, fascinated and scared.

Wildfire in Prairies is a painting on canvas inspired by an idea that to protect and stop wildfires aboriginals in Africa and Australia were burning prairies. It’s like destroying something to protect the same thing.  All fire happens beyond to the left of the painting and the viewer doesn’t see. We can only guess how it looks like by watching this little family.

This family symbolizes Elena’s family: herself, her husband and 2 kids. But all they are children in front of the element of fire. It also shows that there are a lot of things that are not under our control, but we’re together and will go through it.
