As promised, the Wise Owl introduced our Golden Dragon to the King. The King was impressed with the dragon’s work. He ordered many-many bottles of this rare and expensive oil for his court. The golden Dragon was rewarded for his efforts and given a generous amount of gold for his services. And here a new temptation began.
The Golden Dragon never had so much money in his life. He became so obsessed with the newfound wealth that he stopped working on his oil, thinking only of how to save his gold. He stopped sleeping at night, trying to find ways to protect it.
After seeing a Chipmunk next to his house, the Dragon became paranoid and believed that everyone was out to get his money. He started to build walls around his house and filled them with guards and traps. He even hired some of the villagers to spy on him and report back if anyone seemed suspicious.
The Wise Owl visited him once and found the Golden Dragon in a very miserable stage. “What happened, my fellow?” – He asked. “I just got what I was dreaming of” replied Dragon, “… and that was not what you were dreaming about, right?’’ Continued the Wise Owl. “You have to let the coins go, or you’ll find yourself in the Tower. If you need my help, you know where to find me”, said the Owl and flew back to his home.
The Golden Dragon knew that the Tower is one of the worst things that can happen, so he decided to move on and stepped away from his gold. He bought new and very rare peony bushes and some equipment to extract and process the oil. He knew, that hard times are coming, as the bushes bring flowers in a few years, not right away, but all these were much better than going to the Tower.
